AL GREEN’S DRIVE IN

A hang-out for everyone from 8 to 88. Not only food, they had a movie screen where they showed movies. Al Green’s was well known for the size of their tenderloins. We used to buy a bag of buns on the way and the tenderloins were large enough to make about 3 or 4 more sandwiches.

  1. Loved Al Green’s – I was only there a few times but the vibe and the people were great. I also had an Al Green’s t-shirt that had the slogan “Same Day Service” and a picture of the drive-in. Great merchandising (Great food – slow service ;))

    1. Nice to see you are still alive Susan Keck.

I still have my Al Greenes t-shirt that Belle gave me

Your only sister “Janie” was great friends with AL and Belle

  3. Does anyone remember if Al’s burgers were 1/2 pound or 1 pound. I know you got a pound of fries, but my mind is hazy on the size of the burgers.

  4. This was my great-uncles restaurant, we have photo from when it first opened framed and hanging on our wall. I’ve been trying to learn more about my families history and this is a wonderful treat to find. Thank You.

      1. No, it is not still open. In fact, it no longer exists. I yhink there’s a car dealership there now.

      2. Does anyone have any pictures of the inside of Al Greens? I’d love to see them.

    1. Loved Al and Belle! Used to order and then go to Washington square to see a movie. Our food would be almost ready when we came out! “Famous Same Day Service”. Oh, the fried mushrooms! This was ’79 or ’80.

    1. My family and I called and asked Al of they were open. I went for my 13th or 14th birthday about 83ish.
He opened, Belle helped and I had a wonderful time.
      Great people. Dearly missed.

  6. My Dad and Mom used to take us there to watch a movie and have some yummy food. It was back in the sixty I loved it it was such a treat!..
